Dear Parents and Carers,
Over the past few weeks I have been conducting Learning Walk and Talks in all classrooms. The purpose of these visits is to speak to individual children to find out what they are learning in relation to the Learning Intentions and Success Criteria. During these visits I ask the children the following questions:
- What are you learning and why?
- How are you going?
- How do you know?
- How can you improve?
- Where can you go for help?
The conversations I have been able to have with students are very insightful into the learning that is happening in our classrooms. It is very clear that our students are able to discuss what they are learning and why and are able to link their success to the Learning Intentions and Success Criteria.

On Tuesday the 8th of September from 7pm until 7.30pm we will be holding a zoom meeting for all parents who are able to join us. It is really important that we have parents in this meeting, so if you would like to join this meeting please RSVP to the office by the 7th of September by 5.00pm and the link to the meeting will be sent on the day of the meeting.
Happy Father’s Day to all of our Dads and wonderful male role models in our lives. I hope that you have a wonderful day on Sunday. I would also like to thank Anna and Peter MacMillan for coordinating our Father’s Day stall this week, your time and efforts are really appreciated.
Waterbottles
Due to COVID-19 we are still unable to use our water bubblers. The weather is warming up and drinking water is an important aspect of staying healthy. Please ensure that your child has a water bottle at school each day.
Change over to Summer Uniform
We are beginning to experience some warmer weather. Children will be able to wear either Winter or Summer uniform to suit the weather conditions for the next few weeks.
Indigenous Literacy Day
Indigenous Literacy Day was held on Wednesday. Our school all watched a live stream which featured a performance by Jessica Mauboy as well as a reading of Yu sabi densdensbad? (Can You Dance?) in Kriol from Cheryl Lardy.
Children and community members from the Tiwi Islands and Jilkminggan in the Northern Territory, and Bidyadanga in Western Australia shared their stories about the value of language, June Oscar AO, and Archie Roach, also participated.
The event also featured Andy Griffiths, Shelley Ware, Alison Lester, Josh Pyke, Natalie Ahmat, Jared Thomas and Anita Heiss who told stories from their time working with remote communities.
Have a wonderful two weeks and please join me in saying a prayer of thanks and blessing for all of the Fathers in our lives.

COVID-19 update
NSW Health has updated its advice to schools across NSW/ACT to ensure that students and staff do not attend school if they are unwell. Further, and this is a clear elevation of protocols, students absent or sent home due to flu-like symptoms (such as coughing, sore throat, fatigue and shortness of breath) need to be tested. Evidence of a negative result should be provided prior to allowing students and staff to return to school. This measure is ensuring we maintain a stringent and measured approach across all of our schools to maintain the health of students and staff. Gerard Mowbray. Director of Catholic Schools.
