Dear Parents and Carers,
Well here we are with one week left to go until the end of Term 3. Yesterday we unfortunately learnt that we will remain in lockdown for the last week of term. This leaves me feeling disappointed and sad that we can’t welcome back our school community this term. However we remain connected virtually through our Teams meetings and whole school assembly.
Thank you for continuing to keep your children at home. We are only operating at school with skeleton staff due to the restrictions and your support means that I am able to continue to comply with the Public Health Orders and restrictions in place for schools.
Last week we celebrated a Father’s Day liturgy during our whole school assembly. It was wonderful to virtually welcome Fr George to our liturgy and join us in praying for all of the special men in our lives.
Summer Uniform Changeover
As we begin to feel the warmer weather we are preparing to move to our summer uniform. Students will return in Term 4 in their summer uniform. Last year we had a wonderful response from our families returning uniforms that are too small for their children. Please consider sending in any winter uniforms that your child does not need any more so we are able to stock up our uniform pool.
Tell Them From Me Survey
As part of our focus on school effectiveness, we will be participating in an online survey for students – Tell Them From Me (TTFM®). The survey will provide us with valuable feedback on what our students think about their faith, school life, how engaged they are with school and the different ways that teachers interact with them. Schools in Australia and around the world have used the Tell Them From Me survey to help them improve.
During the 5th to the 29th of October students from Years 4 to Year 12 will be given the opportunity and time to participate in this survey during regular school hours. Students who agree to complete the survey will be given a random username and password to access and complete the survey online. Students’ names cannot be linked to their responses which allows it to be completely anonymous. Results will show all student scores combined together – it is not possible to single out individual students in the results.
The survey takes approximately 15-20 minutes to complete. The survey measures include such topics as emotional and social well-being, physical health, and behaviours and attitudes linked to student success.
Participation in the survey is entirely voluntary. Your child will not take part if either you or your child do not wish to. If, during the survey, your child is uncomfortable answering any question, they should leave it blank and move on to the next one. Your child can stop the survey at any time.
National Child Protection Week
This week we had a real focus with our students on Child Protection. All students spent time talking with their teachers about 5 people they can go to if they need help or feel unsafe and students had the opportunity to create a hand with these people on them.
Term 4 Information
At this point in time I believe that our Local Government Area will be reviewed on the 20th of September in regards to the easing of lock down restrictions. All going well we would expect that we will return to school as normal on Tuesday the 5th of October. If there are any changes I will continue to communicate with you via Compass.
Please join me in saying a prayer for our entire school community that they are able to stay healthy, happy and safe and that our teachers and support staff enjoy a very well earned break over the holidays.
God Bless
