Dear Parents and Carers,
2023 has started beautifully. Our school is buzzing with the sound of laughter and learning. Watching our students reconnect with each other and start in their new grades this year has been a true joy to watch.
I would like to welcome back Mrs Grace Fraser who steps back into the role of Aboriginal Education Teacher. We also welcome back Mrs Lisa Minett from her maternity leave. Mrs Emma Clark has joined our staff this year and will be teaching 2 days per week on Year 6 with Mrs Cleaver.
I would also like to welcome our new families and students in Kinder as well as Paul, Lincoln, Levi and Charli in Year 1, Saul, and Sienna in Year 2, Sesi and Arlo in Year 4, and Tiana in Year 6.
Parent Teacher Meet and Greet
We will be holding our parent teacher meet and greet during the week of the 20th of
February. This will be a chance for you to book in for a 10-minute meeting with your child’s teacher to get to know each other and talk about any concerns or questions as well as discuss learning goals for your child. You can book in a time slot on Compass and bookings will close on the 17th of February at 12pm. If you are unable to book through Compass, please contact Mary or Mrs Schilt in the office for assistance.
How do I know what is going on?
We do our best to keep you informed of what is happening in the school. Information is sent out via different means depending on what it is.
Paper notes – Sometimes we need to send a paper note home, so keep an eye out in your child’s bag.
Compass- This is our main form of communication. If you haven’t already done so, download the Compass App. As you create your account, please check that your email is correct; if it isn’t change it yourself or contact the school office. Make sure Notifications are turned on. Please make sure you have signed up and have a log in. If you can’t remember your log in or need a log in, please contact Mary in the office. School Reports are available on Compass, so this is important.
Facebook – We will often share photos, videos and reminders on Facebook, like and follow our page;
St Joseph’s Primary School, Wingham.
Email - Our newsletters are emailed and these come out every second week on a Monday.
Breakfast club is open every morning and for a gold coin donation children are able to get two pieces of toast with their choice of butter, vegemite and cheese and have a glass of milk, milo or juice.

Please join me in saying a prayer for all students who started at school this week, that they feel safe, secure and a sense of belonging.

Mary Mackillop Award - Term 4 2022
This award is presented to one student each term that consistently goes above and beyond to put the needs of others first. This award is founded on one of the most motivating and known sayings of Saint Mary MacKillop “never see a need without doing something about it” (1871). We present this award to someone who follows in Saint Mary’s footsteps by reaching out to the most needy and vulnerable in our school community. Congratulations goes to Penny Van Vliet for Term 4 2022.

Regional Swiming Carnival
On Thursday 9th February twenty one students from St Joseph's Wingham travelled to Gloucester Pool for the Manning Regional swimming carnival.
Students participated in a variety of events and represented St Joseph’s Wingham wonderfully. Our students were well behaved and extremely tired after a big day of travel and swimming. Congratulations to all who attended and participated.
