Dear Parents and Carers,
This week is Child Protection Week. This year the theme is “Where we starts matters.” The NAPCAN website provides a great explanation about the theme.
“In 2023, the message that ‘Every child in every community needs a fair go’ will be complemented with the theme ‘Where we start matters’.
Where we start our lives in terms of where we live, the resources available to us, and the opportunities presented to us make a significant difference to our life outcomes.
Where we start as a service sector in offering children and their families support and assistance makes a significant difference to life outcomes.
Where we start as decision makers in addressing large complex policy problems such as child abuse and neglect, also has a significant personal, social, and economic outcomes.
The aim of Child Protection Week is to bring together partners to focus on addressing the significant harms being experienced by children in Australia. By working collectively to change the trajectory of these children and families, we can reduce the number of children who may come in contact with the child protection system. The time to act is now.”
The Diocese has launched a decorate your gate competition for Child Protection Week. Thank you to Scarlet, Reuby and their mum Natasha who created a beautiful sign for us representing the many faces and parts of our school and wider community.
Father’s Day (DUGS Day)
This year we have changed Father’s Day to DUGS Day. DUGS stands for Dads, Uncles, Granddads and Other Special Males. Our DUGS Day breakfast we held on Friday morning with delicious bacon and egg rolls and sausage sandwiches available, as well as that much needed cup of tea or coffee. Thank you to Matthew and Shannon Maidens and the staff that came in early to prepare the breakfast. There were some great games of handball going on and even a few grown ups playing red rover cross over! We also drew our Father’s Day Raffle, congratulations to Ben and Alice Raison, Charlie and Bella Crittenden and Isaac and Samuel Ungaro who were the prize winners.
Book Week
It seems like a long time ago, but since our last newsletter we celebrated Book Week. A huge thank you to Ms Monkley who always makes Book Week such a great celebration of good literature. Our children experienced so many great opportunities during Book Week, including our Book Week Dress up Day and Parade, Pre-school story circles and the Book Fair.
Dance-a-thon
Another one of our favourite activities during Book Week is our Dance-a-thon which is led by the Year 6 students. Congratulations to Mrs Cleaver, Miss Walton and our Year 6 students for their leadership and enthusiasm in running our Dance-a-thon. Please make sure you return your sponsorship money by Wednesday to be in the running for a prize.
Please join me in a prayer that all children have the opportunity to have a great start in life, which is loving, supportive and sets them up for success.
God Bless

Prime Minister Award
'Being a steward of creation’, ‘Trying your best’, ‘Speaking with kindness’ and ‘Being a responsible learner’ are some of the qualities that teachers consider when awarding ‘Prime Minister’ at our weekly assembly. It is an acknowledgement of the student’s efforts and they have the privilege of wearing the badge with honour, of suggesting a focus the school can work on, award Gotchas to other students at lunch time as well as earning Gotchas for themselves. Congratulations to Marley Dick (Week 7) and Breanna Crittenden (Week 8).
MJR Awards
As part of our MJR system, we acknowledge that the following student, Ben Butchtmann has reached 200 Gotchas. Well Done!
