Dear Parents and Carers,
Today is World Kindness Day. Kindness has the power to change the world. We all have the power to make people happy. We do this in our actions and our words. Examples include giving someone a compliment, saying hello, and genuinely asking people how they are going.
Volunteering our time is another way of being kind, and having our parents volunteer at our school is one way to make your children (our students) incredibly happy. During the year we have many opportunities to volunteer at our school including canteen, sporting events, school fundraisers and assisting with reading and classroom activities.
If you have ever considered volunteering at our school, please let us know so we can direct you to the volunteering registration form. Or you can access this yourselves by going to https://www.mn.catholic.org.au/people/volunteer/

We know that it can be difficult and time consuming for parents to source credible information when it comes to wellbeing support strategies for their children.
Because parenting doesn’t come with instructions, SchoolTV is an online wellbeing resource that can support you in the challenges of modern-day parenting. This award-winning resource helps build relationships, foster connections, enable understanding and break down barriers to navigate a pathway towards better mental health and wellbeing for young people. It can assist you in starting conversations on topics that are sometimes awkward or difficult to tackle.
Parenting is a learning journey and SchoolTV supports families by providing credible information from trusted sources offering practical strategies with a focus to empower confidence when difficulties arise.
We invite you to visit our SchoolTV site and view the content. Discover a host of interesting topics featuring interviews with leading youth wellbeing experts and researchers from around the world offering hours of relevant and practical information. Additionally, each topic includes a compilation of related resources from key organisations providing a comprehensive stream of content. On Saturday the 11th of November, Bryson and Monique joined Mrs Hunt to lay a wreath on behalf of the school at the community Remembrance Day Service. Thank you to both students for representing our school so proudly.
Please join me in a prayer for those people who have given so much to keep our country safe.

Prime Minister Award
'Being a steward of creation’, ‘Trying your best’, ‘Speaking with kindness’ and ‘Being a responsible learner’ are some of the qualities that teachers consider when awarding ‘Prime Minister’ at our weekly assembly. It is an acknowledgement of the student’s efforts and they have the privilege of wearing the badge with honour, of suggesting a focus the school can work on, award Gotchas to other students at lunch time as well as earning Gotchas for themselves. Congratulations to Krystela Stoehr (Week 5) and Zeke Pereira (Week 6).

MJR Awards
As part of our MJR system, we acknowledge that the following students, Roman Falzon and Finn Hryzak have reached 100 Gotchas; Mackenzie Wilmen, Zander Knowles and Jaxon Osgood have reached 300 Gotchas. Well Done!

What's been happening in Year 3..........
Year 3 have been learning how to add and subtract money. They have been also learning how to calculate change................
Year 3 are working hard to improve on their handwriting.............
Year 3 looked at the book 'Why I love Australia' by Bronwyn Bancroft and completed some artwork from it................
In music Year 3 are learning to play the ukulele..................
In science we have been learning how to group animals and plants..................
What's been happening in Year 4........
Year 4 have had a busy start to the term! We have enjoyed investigating and planning our marble runs in Science and have been learning about social justice in Religion lessons. This fit in well with the school Crazy Sock Day Social Justice cause, and we were able to link this real-world example with our learning in Religion. In Maths, we started the term learning about addition and subtraction of money, and we are currently learning about multiplication and division.
We have been using Learning Intentions and Co-Constructed Success Criteria in our Writing lessons, to plan, write and review Factual Descriptions. In all other Key Learning Areas, students are able to refer to the Learning Intention and Success Criteria to see how they are going in their learning and what they need to do to improve to achieve the Learning Intention. Anchor Charts displayed on the classroom walls have played a key role in students retaining information and building on their knowledge. This pedagogy is used across the school and is referred to as the "Third Teacher".

Year 4 Teachers
Kinder, Year 1 and Year 2 were fortunate enough to have a very special guest from our local council called "Whizzy". Whizzy shared with the children the importance of water in our life and how were are made up of 60% water. They were reminded to recycle and encouraged to find alternatives to using crunchy plastic bottles such as reusable water containers. Our new message is to rethink and not purchase those items as this will help us to reduce the landfill, the pollution the destruction to our marine life. Before leaving, Whizzy entertained the students with a water rap. We look forward to Whizzy returning next year. Until then rethink...do we really need those plastic items?
